Teachings Of Hafiz Translated by Gertrude Lowthian Bell
Shemsuddin Mahommad, better known by his poetical surname of Hafiz, was born in Shiraz in the early part of the fourteenth century. His names, being interpreted, signify the Sun of the Faith, the Praiseworthy, and One who can recite the Koran; he is further known to his compatriots under the titles of the Tongue of the Hidden and the Interpreter of Secrets.

Mohammed and His Successors by Washington Irving
Khadijah was now in her fortieth year, a woman of judgment and experience.
The mental qualities of Mohammed rose more and more in her estimation,
and her heart began to yearn toward the fresh and comely youth. According
to Arabian legends, a miracle occurred most opportunely to confirm and
sanctify the bias of her inclinations. She was one day with her handmaids,
at the hour of noon, on the terraced roof of her dwelling, watching the
arrival of a caravan conducted by Mohammed. As it approached, she beheld,
with astonishment, two angels overshadowing him with their wings to protect
him from the sun. Turning, with emotion, to her handmaids, "Behold!" said
she, "the beloved of Allah, who sends two angels to watch over him!"

Restatement of History of Islam and Muslims by
Sayed Ali Asgher Razwy
This is a new story of Islam. It is the story of the movement which was launched by Muhammad, the Messenger of God, in A.D. 610 in Makkah, and was consummated with the support of his cousin, collaborator and vicegerent, Ali ibn Abi Talib, in A.D. 632 in Medina. It covers a period of ninety years from A.D. 570 when he was born in Makkah, to A.D. 661 when his successor, Ali ibn Abi Talib, was assassinated in Kufa.
Six Lessons in Islam by Marzieh Gail
Islam in the beginning is a story of two cities -- Mecca and Yathrib, later called Medina. Medina was a rich oasis. It was an agricultural community; many of its clans were Jews and they cultivated the extensive palm groves.

Islamic Contributions to Civilization by Stanwood Cobb
Even in this modern age of enlightenment few people are aware of the significant contributions made by the Islamic world to the progress of humanity. Yet for more than five centuries that civilization not only led the world in science, but was the only portion of mankind actively engaged in the systematic pursuit of knowledge.
Baha'i writings.
"The greatest bounties of God in this phenomenal world are His
Manifestations. This is the greatest postulate. These Manifestations are
the Suns of Reality. For it is through the Manifestation that the reality
becomes known and established for man. History proves to us that apart from
the influence of the Manifestations, man sinks back into his animal
condition, using even his intellectual power to subserve an animal purpose.
Therefore there is no cessation whatsoever in the future for the appearance
of the Manifestation of God, because God is infinite and His purpose cannot
be limited in any way. If we ever dare to limit and circumscribe God's
purpose within any bounds, then of necessity we have dared to set
limitations to the omnipotence of God. The created has dared to define his
Creator! "

For an explanation of the Koran see Koran Introduction
A prophet (nabi) or messenger (rasul) of God is a human
being to whom God gives His guidance and whom He charges
with the task of conveying that guidance to the people so
that they recognise the oneness of God and forbid wrong and
enjoin what is right. A prophet and a messenger both speak
by divine inspiration or as the interpreter through whom the
will of God is expressed. He is sent to communicate to his
knowledge of the unseen (supernatural) that Allah (s.w.t.)
has informed him about, and is a person gifted with profound
moral insight and exceptional powers of expression. Whereas a
messenger is sent with a special mission added to the foundation
of prophecy. He is the bearer of a special mission that includes
the completion of a plea that, if breached, necessitates destruction
or torment. Allah says "...so that people should not have a plea
against Allah after them (coming of) messengers."[Qur'an Al-Nisaa 4:165]

Muhammad
I am nothing new amoung the messengers
nor do I know what will be done with me
and you judged that the messenger
and the believers would never return
He will gather assured men
He will gather assured women
Into Gardens residing
Under trees in fields which waterbrooks flow
I follow only what has been disclosed to me
my primary duty is to clearly warn you
You will discover in the law of God
The power to change defeat into victory.
He will gather assured men
He will gather assured women
Into Gardens residing
Under trees in fields which waterbrooks flow
This Koran is truly from Him but you reject it
I follow my inspiration I will clearly warn you
I am a witness and a bearer of good tidings
That you may glorify Him at early dawn
Will the Children of Israel follow and believe
You remain too proud, God guides not the blind
He sent His messenger with the guidance
and the religion of truth to prevail over all
He will gather assured men
He will gather assured women
Into Gardens residing
Under trees in fields which waterbrooks flow
God has endeared the faith to you
and has enhanced it in your hearts,
and has made disbelief base behavior
and rebellion hateful unto you

The Koran and I
I had a teacher for the Koran.
His goal was to find persons who would go
out and teach people about the spiritual
nature of the Koran.
My goal was to just understand it better.
I had been reading it for years but had not
broken through that shell of prejudice that
the west has imposed on it and its peoples.
Early on, in my spiritual education I had no
interest in the Koran or Islam, thinking that
Buddhism and Hinduism were more important.
It took time, I read as I was advised to read
but understood only a little. But this last five
years have been a blessing. I now see Islam as
the educator of the west from 600 AD to 1500 AD.
Most of our technology, arts, sciences, laws and
religious enlightenment comes through and from the
Koran and the society of Islam.
But most important for me and my progress, is my
understanding that God gave a new messanger to
mankind after Christ around 600 AD and he left a
perfect book.
